During the Christmas period, trade slowed as offices closed and holidays were observed. Bordeaux was impacted the most. The region’s trade share slipped to a record weekly low of 26.7%, bringing its December average to just under 40%.
Burgundy accounted for 24.5% of trade, with red taking 74% of the total. The most traded wine by value from the region was Domaine Leroy, Vosne Romanee Premier Cru Les Beaux Monts 2009.
The ‘Others’ category enjoyed a strong week with its market share almost doubling to 13.3%. Much of this was down to spirits. The rather rare Macallan Speyside Highland Single Malt Genesis Lalique 72yo made its mark.
A very Happy New Year to you all.
